MP Weather Update: Heavy rain alert in Madhya Pradesh till June 27

MP Weather Update: The monsoon has picked up in Madhya Pradesh, and on 24 June 2025, heavy rains inundated several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall till June 27. On Monday, Shivpuri recorded the highest rainfall of 2 inches, while Mungaoli recorded 264 mm rainfall. The rain was accompanied by a drop in temperature and improvement in air quality. Let’s know the complete details of today’s weather, temperature, and AQI.

Heavy rains lash MP

On 24th June 2025, 20 districts of Madhya Pradesh received rainfall. Shivpuri recorded 2 inches of rain, Naugaon (Chhatarpur) 1.25 inches, and Narsinghpur-Khargone 0.5 inches. Mungaoli (264 mm), Bamori (255 mm), Badarwas (150 mm), Guna (143 mm) and Chanderi (139 mm) received heavy rainfall. Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sagar and Mandla received moderate to heavy rainfall. The IMD has warned of a strong rain system till June 27 due to cyclonic circulation and trough.

Temperature Drop in Cities

The rain led to a dip in temperature in several parts of Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal recorded 32.7 C, Indore 32.3 C, Gwalior 32.5 C, Ujjain 31.8 C, and Jabalpur 32.2 C. The lowest minimum temperature of 16.2 C was recorded at Pachmarhi while the maximum temperature of 33.6 C was recorded at Singrauli. The day temperature of Pachmarhi dropped to 22.4 C, the coldest in the state. The temperature in Singrauli, Sidhi, and Khajuraho ranged between 32.8-33.6 ° C.

Air Quality Index (AQI) update

The air quality of Madhya Pradesh has improved. Sagar recorded the cleanest air with an AQI of 57, which is in the normal category. The AQI was 65 in Bhopal, 64 in Jabalpur, and 69 in Indore. However, the AQI in Orchha reached 91, indicating a deterioration in air quality. According to the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, rain and winds helped reduce pollution.

Red, Orange and Yellow alerts for MP

IMD has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Ujjain, Mandsaur, and Neemuch for 24 June 2025. An orange alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts of Maharashtra. A yellow alert has been issued in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and 40 other districts where light to moderate rain and winds of 30-40 kmph are likely. Residents have been advised to avoid flooded roads and check the weather department’s website mausam.imd.gov.in for updates.
